Pausii Privacy Policy
The Pausii app does not collect, sell or share your personal information. Everything Pausii stores lives in your own family's iCloud and on your family's devices, and the developer of Pausii has no access to it. This website (pausii.app) is separate from the app and uses analytics, described below.
Information Pausii handles
The Pausii app only handles what it needs to let a parent pause apps on a child's device. The app has no accounts, logins, ads, analytics or tracking, and no third-party tracking or advertising.
| Information | Where it's stored | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Child's first name and device name (for example "Sam's iPhone"), as entered or edited by a parent | Your family's iCloud | To show each device to the parents |
| Each device's pause status, timers and settings | Your family's iCloud | To pause and resume apps and show whether a device received the change |
| The apps and categories chosen to pause (in a coded form Apple provides) | Your family's iCloud and the child's device | To know which apps to pause |
| The Family Organizer's display name, taken from their Apple Account or edited in Pausii | Your family's iCloud | To show who manages the family |
| An identifier for each child device and for each parent who joins | Your family's iCloud | To tell devices and parents apart |
| Connection details (recent activity used for troubleshooting) | Only on that device | To help troubleshoot; it leaves the device only if you choose to share it |
| Task lists and check-offs | Your family's iCloud | To show each kid their lists and let parents see what's done |
| Task photos (taken in Pausii, optional) | Your family's iCloud, deleted after 7 days | To show a parent that a task is done |
| Parent notes on tasks (like "Not yet") | Your family's iCloud | To let a parent respond to a checked-off task |
| Routine schedules, free times and holidays | Your family's iCloud and your family's devices | To pause and resume apps on schedule |
| Shield settings: how the screen your child sees when apps are paused looks, as set up by a parent or child | Your family's iCloud | To show the paused-apps screen the way your family set it up |
| Daily app limits: the daily time limits a parent sets for apps on a child's device | Your family's iCloud | To pause apps when a daily limit is reached |
| Website filter choices (in a coded form Apple provides) | Your family's iCloud and the child's device | To filter websites on the child's device |
| "Your Pausii week" progress: the date your first week started and which features are unlocked so far | Your family's iCloud | To open a new feature each day of your first week |
| Age range: during setup, Pausii asks for your child's age range to suggest the right setup. Pausii does not save the age range. | Not saved | To suggest the right setup |
Pausii does not collect location, contacts, your photo library, messages, browsing history, app usage time, or any information about what a child does inside other apps.
Tasks, Routines and other features
Tasks and photos. When a parent turns on Tasks, a kid can check off a list (like Homework or Bedtime) and, if the parent asks for it, take a photo to show a task is done. Photos are taken with the camera inside Pausii; Pausii can't see the rest of the kid's photo library. Each photo is stored in your family's iCloud, seen only by your family, and deleted after 7 days. Notes a parent adds (like "Not yet") are stored the same way.
Routines. Routine schedules, free times and holidays you set are stored in your family's iCloud and on your family's devices.
Face ID. Pausii can use Face ID to unlock parent controls. Face ID is handled by Apple; Pausii never sees or stores face data.
Apple Watch, widgets and the Lock Screen. Pausii can show your kids' first names and pause status on your Apple Watch, in widgets and on the Lock Screen. This information comes from your family's iCloud and stays on your devices.
Notifications. Pausii sends alerts between your family's devices (like a finished task list) through Apple's notification service. Pausii doesn't keep a copy.
Screen Time information
Pausii uses Apple's Screen Time features, with permission granted on each device.
- App choices are coded by Apple. When apps are chosen in Pausii, Apple provides them in a coded form, not as app names. Pausii can't read which apps they are, and neither can the developer.
- Blocking and filtering happen on the device. Pauses, app limits and website filtering are applied by iOS on the child's device. Pausii never sees how long a child uses any app or which websites a child visits.
Shield and your child's age
Pausii never asks for, saves or shares a birthday or an exact age. Here is exactly how age is handled.
Asking once, never saving. When you set up Shield, Pausii may ask which age range fits your child, so it can suggest a starting point. You can skip the question. Your answer is used only on that screen to pick suggested settings, and it is never saved on your phone, on your child's device or in iCloud. The next time you open Shield, Pausii doesn't remember it.
Strictest by default. Until you choose, every child starts on Pausii's strictest settings (the "Under 6" starting point). If you skip the question, those settings stay. Pausii never waits for an age before protecting a child.
No age in your family's data. Pausii stores the Shield settings themselves (for example, whether buying apps or chatting in games is allowed). It does not store which age range they came from. Earlier test versions of Pausii saved the age range with the settings and synced an age group for game friends. Both stopped in build 65.7, and the old values are cleared the next time a parent saves.
What the settings could still hint at. If you pick an age range and never change a single setting, those settings match Pausii's suggestion for that range, so someone who could see them might guess the range. This is true of any age-based starting point. As soon as you change any setting, they no longer match. Only the parents in your family and your child's own devices can see these settings, because they live in your family's own iCloud, not on any system the developer runs. The developer of Pausii cannot read them.
No tracking, no analytics. The Pausii app does not track your family, does not use analytics or advertising tools, and does not send your child's settings or usage anywhere except your family's iCloud. Reminders from Pausii, like the 9 AM "Your Pausii week" note, never include a child's name.
Where it's stored and who can see it
Pausii has no servers. Family information is stored in the iCloud account of the parent who created the family (the Family Organizer), and is shared only with the people that parent invites.
- Parents and child devices in your Pausii family can see the family's devices and their pause status.
- The developer of Pausii cannot see your information. It's in your iCloud, not on any system the developer runs.
- Apple stores and delivers the information as part of iCloud, under Apple's Privacy Policy.
Sharing
Pausii does not sell, rent or share your information with anyone for advertising, marketing or any other purpose.
Information is shared only:
- with the parents and child devices you add to your Pausii family, through iCloud sharing you control;
- with Apple, which provides iCloud;
- when you choose to send someone a copy of a device's connection details; or
- if required by law, though the developer holds no family information to disclose.
Children's privacy
Pausii is designed to be set up and controlled by a parent or guardian. A child's device joins only when a parent sends an invitation and Screen Time permission is approved through Apple's Family Sharing.
The developer does not collect personal information from children. The only child information Pausii stores (a first name, a device name, pause status, Shield settings, daily app limits, "Your Pausii week" progress, task lists and check-offs, and any task photos) stays in the family's own iCloud, visible to that family's parents. Task photos are deleted after 7 days. A parent can change or remove it at any time.
Keeping and deleting information
Information is kept until you remove it. You can:
- Remove a child's device in Pausii under Family.
- Remove a parent (the Family Organizer can do this) or leave a family (any other parent) under Family → Parents.
- Delete the app. This removes everything stored on that device, including connection details and any Screen Time blocks set by Pausii.
- Delete Pausii's iCloud data on the Family Organizer's device: Settings → your name → iCloud → Storage → Pausii → Delete Data. This deletes the whole family for everyone.
Security
Family information is protected by Apple's iCloud security and is shared only with people a parent invites. App choices are stored in a coded form that can't be read as app names.
